Students at St. Anthony receive a traditional elementary school education with an emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics. Teachers are encouraged to engage children through creative teaching styles, igniting their curiosity and imaginations. All of the curriculum meets the guidelines and requirements set by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department on Catholic Schools. We currently use Common Core standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics and the Next Generation Science Standards are employed in middle school. All other subjects adhere to the California State guidelines.
Our Technology Program is integrated in the daily lessons at all levels, Preschool through 8th grade.
Our Preschool students explore technology through the use of our iPads, which allow the students to physically touch and interact with technology.
In Kindergarten through 5th Grade, the students utilize iPads in a one-to-one model for additional instruction and demonstrate their learning by using a wide variety of educational apps.
Our middle school students use Chromebooks for part of each class period. Students learn to use the entire Google Apps for Education suite to not only gain information, but to educate others via multimedia presentations, blogs, and collaboration.
We offer extra services for students with special learning needs. Students living within the Long Beach Unified School District or Los Angeles Unified School District boundaries are eligible to receive instruction from a Title I Reading Specialist in a small group setting. Many teachers offer after school tutoring on an as-needed basis. Homework help is provided as part of our Daycare program.
