Curriculum

Students at St. Anthony receive a traditional elementary school education with an emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics. Teachers are encouraged to engage children through creative teaching styles, igniting their curiousity and imaginations. All of the curriculum meets the guidelines and requirements set by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department on Catholic Schools.

Foreign Languages

Our Preschool offers instruction in English and in Spanish. We are exploring the option of bringing in additional language instruction within the next few years.

Technology and Blended Learning

Our Technology Program is offered at all levels, Preschool through 8th grade.

Our Preschool students explore technology through the use of our SMARTBoards, which allow the students to physically touch and interact with technology.

In Kindergarten through 3rd Grade, the students utilize iPads for additional instruction and demonstrate their learning by using a wide variety of educational apps.

In 4th through 8th Grade, the students use Chromebooks for part of each class period. Students learn to use the entire Google Apps for Education suite to not only gain information, but to educate others via multimedia presentations, blogs, and collaboration.

Additional Resources

We offer extra services for students with special learning needs. Students living within the Long Beach Unified School District boundaries are eligible to receive instruction from a Title I Reading Specialist in a small group setting. Many teachers offer after school tutoring on an as-needed basis.
